First Snowfall

1 min read
Winter's fallout descends from the skies,
Ominous prelude to the cold and dark times ahead...

Today we got our first snowfall, light flurries that rather serenely floated to the ground reminiscent of nuclear ash/debris.  At midday when I was outside having a smoke break this came to me like a muse whispering in my ear (I'm not exactly the poetic type).  Even at work my mind rarely drifts far from Fallout, and seemed like a perfect context to (abstractly) use the term from which my favorite game's title is derived.

Plus I despise winter and everytime I see the first snowfall I cringe with disgust but strangely enough my thoughts always form along the same lines like what I've quoted above.

(p.s., I also despise that stupid blurr effect dA admin added to the journals.  Makes no sense.)

Obsessed much?!

2 min read
Ok, so lately, I haven't been able to play any other video game that isn't Fallout.  Ever since back to October, 2008, all I seem to be interested in playing is Fallout.  I see so many new interesting games but then my attention is immediately drawn back to Fallout.

Suppose I am possessed by obsession.  Well... at least it's better than drugs (more cost effective).  Nothing beats escaping to a world that is in nature far worse than our own.  Only significant thing separating our world from the fictional world of Fallout is - freedom!

We have no freedom living in society.  Everyday we got to get up and go to work or school.  Come home and blow time away until you go to sleep and repeat the process the next day.  Pay bills.  Pay taxes.  Do homework, etc.  Tolerate other people within constant proximity every day.

Whereas in Fallout, you survive.  That is really your only job (other than the choices you CHOOSE to make beside that).  Otherwise you can go where you want and do what you want without having to fall into the usual stream of automated civilization.  Now, I'm not exactly an anarchist, far from that in fact, but there is a point (for some people) when you stop and look around and realize the superficiality to our modern existance.  Whether it's a product of our culture is a controversy but sure does make you wish for simpler times.  Only problem is that you have to be able to tear yourself away from all of the luxuries that effectively trap us into this existance.  Grocery stores, television, internet, toilet paper, fast food resturants, etc.  That's the hardest part.  Getting past that, it's just a matter of developing and improving yourself via your own personal hard work and study of all things practical.

Anyway, I'm rambling.  This entry started out as something completely different until my thoughts spilled out.  Funny how that happens.
